The project comprises development of a new indoor sports facility, with primary features being a multi-court sports hall, a multi-purpose studio space and external viewing gallery on the upper floor, with new landscaped areas to link new building with the existing campus. An important aspect of the completed facility will be its use by external community groups.
The site falls within the inner Jodrell Bank Observatory consultation zone and the materiality of external walls, and details of what electrical equipment must be for assessed and approved so as not to degrade the performance of its telescopes. The site also lies within the curtilage of several heritage assets (Grade 2 and Grade 2* listed buildings). Local planning policy SE9 requires at least 10% of the building’s predicted energy requirement comes from decentralised and renewable or low carbon sources.
Responsible for planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating health and safety during the design and planning stage of the project. Providing Pre-Construction Information to Designers. Developing safe access strategies for cleaning and maintenance of roof plant, including collective fall protection around the plant deck. Undertaking monthly site safety inspections throughout the construction phase, ensuring that high level of health and safety standards and arrangements were maintained.
