Case Study

Beechwood House

CDM Principal Designer Services

Background

Bryanston School is a co-educational boarding school in Dorset, and Beechwood House has historically been used as a junior house for its Year 9 boys.

In 2023, it was decided to extend the building, making it suitable for use as a through boarding house for boys aged 13-18. As well as improving facilities, ensuring it would meet their needs over the next 15 years.

Challenges

Solution

Our CDM services are instrumental in the remodel, refurbishment and extension of Beechwood House, providing additional capacity to accommodate students relocated from the main building.

Communal social spaces will be centrally located, close to the main entrance and staff offices, ensuring good accessibility and safeguarding for the students. Technology that reduces the running costs and energy consumption of the building will also be incorporated into the design.

Mechanical and electrical services have been designed with a sustainable approach, reducing waste and creating a healthy and comfortable environment for everyone on site. Landscaping works will also widen the existing footpath, providing a new vehicular access route for parking at Beechwood House.
